FAQ Answer

Fees and Transactions

What network fees apply to native assets and ERC-20 tokens?

Blockchain actions require network fees paid in the selected network’s native asset. Native assets normally require a direct escrow deposit, while ERC-20 tokens may require both approval and deposit transactions.

Answer

Network fees are blockchain transaction costs paid in the native gas asset of the selected network. They are separate from Senpero’s platform fees and can change according to network demand, transaction complexity, and available block space.

The required transactions differ by asset type:

Asset type
Typical escrow transactions
How network fees are paid
Native asset
A direct transaction deposits the asset into escrow
Paid using additional units of the same native asset
ERC-20 token
An approval transaction may be required, followed by a separate escrow deposit
Both transactions are paid using the network’s native gas asset

For an ERC-20 token, approval gives the escrow contract permission to transfer a specified token amount. Approval does not move the tokens into escrow. The deposit transaction must still be submitted separately.

The approval step may be skipped if the wallet has already granted sufficient allowance to the correct escrow contract. Always verify the contract address and approval amount before signing.

Other on-chain actions may also incur separate network fees, including:

  • Releasing crypto after payment is confirmed
  • Returning crypto after cancellation or dispute resolution
  • Replacing or canceling a pending blockchain transaction
  • Retrying a failed or incorrectly configured transaction

A failed EVM transaction can still consume gas because validators processed the attempted execution. Network fees are therefore generally not returned simply because a transaction failed.

Before starting a trade:

  • Keep enough of the network’s native asset available for gas
  • Do not deposit or transfer your entire native-asset balance
  • Confirm that the wallet is connected to the correct network
  • Review the gas estimate before approving each transaction
  • Remember that Layer 2 fees may include execution costs and blockchain data costs

Senpero cannot set a fixed network-fee amount because gas conditions change continuously. Use the estimate displayed by your wallet immediately before signing.
