FAQ Answer
Buying Crypto
How long does a P2P crypto purchase take?
A P2P crypto purchase can take minutes or considerably longer. The total time depends on escrow funding, the fiat payment method, seller confirmation and blockchain processing.
Answer
A P2P crypto purchase does not have one fixed completion time. A straightforward trade using a fast payment method may finish within minutes, while bank processing, delayed responses or blockchain congestion can make the transaction take longer.
The total purchase time usually depends on four stages:
- Escrow funding: The seller must deposit the cryptocurrency into escrow before the buyer sends fiat.
- Fiat payment: Processing speed depends on the selected bank, digital wallet or payment service. An instant payment method can still experience delays or reviews.
- Seller verification: The seller must confirm that the money has actually arrived in the receiving account. A receipt or screenshot alone is not confirmation.
- Blockchain settlement: After release, the transaction may require network confirmation before the cryptocurrency appears as available in the buyer’s wallet.
To reduce delays, read the offer terms before opening the order, use the exact payment method specified, send the correct amount and follow any deadline displayed on the trade page. Mark the payment as sent only after completing the transfer.
If the payment has arrived but the seller does not release the cryptocurrency, keep all communication inside the order and use the dispute process when the trade qualifies for escalation.
